A Healthy Lunch You Can Bring to Work

Do you ever try to be good little girl or boy by bringing your lunch to work?

I don’t blame you! Buying lunch every day can put a strain on your bank account and your butt…even if you’re just ordering a salad.

The culprit? Impulse cornbread purchases, obviously.

But if you do bring a bag lunch, it’s almost always a boring salad or sandwich.

Or if you’re stuck in 1998, you might still be impressed with those fancy “wraps” the kids are talking about these days.

Enough! Boring leads to tossing your lame wrap in the trash and running out for a meatball sub. Good luck staying awake this afternoon.

Thinking Outside the Lunchbox

To sass up your bag lunch, go for things that would be just as exciting to eat at home or even at a party…not just out of a tupperware.

Perhaps a fancy little crudite platter…

If you’d rather eat everything with a fork, chop up each ingredient into bite-sized pieces, drizzle with dressing, and refrigerate – now you have a healthy chicken salad waiting for you!

Lunch Crudite with Dressing


  • Easy Roast Chicken (or just buy a rotisserie)
  • Bright, tender veggies like asparagus and broccoli: all you have to do is toss them in boiling water and immediately take them out and plunge into a bowl of ice water. Bada bing, bada boom – you have beautiful bright veggies with a tender snap to them.
  • Honey Dijon Vinaigrette
